Description

The bachelor’s degree programme Sustainable Coastal Management is focusing on coastal issues; analyses of environmental challenges, understanding of the interplay between natural resource management and the environment i.e. spatial planning and the potential of new inventions within the sector of Bioeconomy for solving environmental challenges and providing business opportunities. The curriculum is multidisciplinary and has a strong focus on spatial aspects and the use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Active learning and practical training are seen as keys to success for developing self-reflecting and able professionals that can interact in truly multi-cultural teams. The students are responsible for their own learning and in that way they develop entrepreneurial skills and pro-activeness which enables them to easier place themselves on the work market. The study programme has strong focus on the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. All the 17 Sustainable Development Goals are relevant and consider through their natural inter-linkage. However, a special focus is on goals 14 Life Below Water and 15 Life on Land.
The duration of the programme is 2 years and comprise 240 ECTS (of which 120 ECTS are from previous university level studies in a related field). The studies are completed as full-time studies in Raseborg.
