A combination of theory and practice, with one week's field work at Tvärminne Zoological Station. Otherwise, lectures, exercises in class and literature studies.
The student is assessed on the basis of performance in field work (20%), assignments (60%) and exam (20%).

The course is spread out during the year, so that we can follow the development in a specific lake and a sea beach, Knipan. We will take samples in the field and consider what the results tell us. The course also includes lectures and group work.
Visits to institutions that conduct water monitoring in Finland are scheduled throughout the course.
