FRAUD AND IRREGULARITIES ALWAYS GENERATE A FAILED GRADE REGARDLESS OF GREAT ACHIEVEMENTS IN THE THESIS
THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK
The theoretical framework and the starting point of the thesis are not meaningful and current. There is no source criticism.
METHOD
The choice of methodology is not described or poorly described and irrelevant.
The coherence between the method description and the realisation of the thesis is very poor.
The ethical discussion is irrelevant/missing.
The thesis is not comprehensive enough according to the standards of a thesis.
The conclusions are illogical, and no data analysis has been done.
The presentation of the result is insufficient/incorrect/not based on data analysis.
There is no logical structure and the analysis/reflective discussion of the result is uncritical and shallow.
The summary/abstract of the thesis is poorly written.
The introduction is not linked to the contents of the thesis. The aim is not clear, and the research questions are not in accordance with the aim.
Unstructured layout and incorrect reference list.
The presentation is unstructured, unprepared and irrelevant. The opposition of the thesis is irrelevant and based on personal opinions.
Immature and dependent work process.
Grade 1
THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK
The theoretical framework and the starting point of the thesis are based mostly on irrelevant literature. The presentation of the literature is very superficial and brief.
The thesis does not follow the conventions of good scientific writing.
Source criticism can be found in the text.
METHOD
The method description, the method discussion and the ethical discussion are on a basic level and incomplete.
The critical analysis of the results and methods used is not relevant regarding the thesis. The conclusions are shallow and trivial.
RESULTS
The result discussion is mainly referring and irrelevant regarding the aim of the thesis.
The logical stringency of the presentation is poor.
The coherence between aim and conclusion is very poor.
PRESENTATION
The summary/abstract of the thesis is inadequate.
The introduction is short and does not introduce the reader to the subject.
The aim is unclear/not relevant, and the research questions do not relate to the aim or are incorrect.
There are errors in the reference list and in the in-text citation.
The presentation is weak and incoherent, the opposition shows the inability to critically review a text
Partially immature and dependent work process.
Grade 2
THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK
The theoretical framework and the starting point of the thesis are based on mainly relevant literature but remain very general and/or briefly described.
The sources are few, only partially relevant and form a weak theoretical framework for the thesis.
The ability to present an overview of relevant research is weak.
The source criticism is inadequate.
METHOD
Parts of the method description, the method discussion and /or the ethical discussion are not satisfactory. The result discussion and the method discussion/ critical review are very superficial. The conclusions are trivial.
RESULTS
The result discussion is mainly referring and certain aspects that are central to the aim of the thesis are treated incompletely or not at all. The presentation is, to some extent, not stringent. The coherence between aim and conclusion is poor.
PRESENTATION
The summary of the thesis is partially inadequate. The introduction gives a partially misleading/unclear picture of the subject. The aim is unclearly described or is inappropriate for a degree thesis. There is no coherence between the research questions and the aim of the thesis.
There are a few errors in the reference list and in the in-text citation.
The presentation is relatively unsystematic, the opposition is mainly referring. The work process has been characterized by certain problems and a dependent working method.
Grade 3
THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK
There is a basic ability to synthesize and the theoretical framework and the starting points of the thesis form a functioning theoretical structure.
The literature is relevant regarding the theme and the theoretical starting point is appropriate.
Good source criticism.
METHOD
The method description gives a comprehensive picture of the implementation of the thesis. However, there is no in-depth discussion of the choice of method. The study has the cohesiveness of a degree thesis and is carried out well. The ethical discussion is brief but presents the relevant ethical issues. The critical review is extensive but not reflective. The conclusions are relevant and connected to the aim. No ability to demonstrate further reflections can be seen.
RESULTS
The report of the results is systematic, but the reasoning is trivial and mostly referring.
The feedback to the purpose of the conclusion is clear, but concise and undeveloped, lack of reflection.
The coherence between aim and conclusion is logical and clear. However, the description is short and incomplete. There is no reflective writing.
PRESENTATION
The summary of the thesis is well written (Abstract).
The introduction has a clear structure and the reader can easily understand the theme and aim of the thesis. The aim and the research questions are logically interconnected.
Layout, reference list and in-text citation follow the conventions of good scientific writing.
Presentation and opposition are performed according to instructions.
The work process has been smooth and independent.
Grade 4
THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK
The thesis/study is based on a good theoretical framework. The use of literature is extensive which forms a clear and adequate theoretical starting point.
Good source criticism.
METHOD
The method description gives a comprehensive picture of the implementation of the study and shows awareness of the advantages and disadvantages of the choice of method.
The ethical discussion is extensive and thorough in relation to relevant ethical issues. The conclusions are comprehensive and well-founded.
The report of the results is correct and systematic. It shows the student’s ability to logical and independent reasoning.
The coherence between aim and conclusion is clear and comprehensive and demonstrates strengths and weaknesses in the implementation.
RESULTS
The summary of the thesis is very well composed (Abstract).
The introduction gives a clear background to how the work relates to previous research and thus to the aim of the thesis. The aim and the research questions are logically interconnected. Layout, reference list and in-text citation follow the conventions of good scientific writing.
PRESENTATION
The presentation is systematic, and the writer shows the ability to develop and clarify his/her theme. The opposition is critical and constructive and shows the student’s ability to familiarize him-/herself with the theme of the opposed work.
The work process is mature and largely independent.
Grade 5
