The student is provided with the basic safety skills required in the STCWConvention from all persons who intend to work onboard a vessel, in accordance with STCW-Code:A-VI/1-1 and A-VI/1-4.

• Maritime safety in theory and practice, equipment, safety techniques ad appliances, safety responsibilities, organization, physical and psychological preparedness, authority requirements, rescuing methods and practical exercises, and regulations for preventing environmental damages

Basic Training (VI/1)
The course has been designed in accordance with the framework given in the STCW code, Section A-VI/1 including personal survival techniques as set out in table A-VI/1-1, fire prevention and firefighting as set out in table A-VI/1-2, elementary first aid as set out in table A-VI/1-3, and personal safety and social responsibilities as set out in table A-VI/1-4 and IMO Model Courses 1.19, 1.20, 1.13 & 1.21.
The course comprised a total of 7 days of instruction and practical exercises at GMC Maritime Training Center, Greece.
