Competence objectives of the study unit
Objective of the course is to prepare students in developing their skills in text based, themed reading and writing tasks. Through reading and writing process the students are supported to critical thinking and decision making in the use of evidence, sources for effective essays.

Student writing on specific theme and feedback on student writing. Oral presentation or poster presentation

Competence objectives of the study unit
To widen the student’s understanding of organization theory and its importance in today’s industrial environment. To enhance the student’s understanding of individual/team behavior in organizations and to strengthen and establish strategies in developing, growing, and changing businesses.
Content of the study unit
Organization theory, trends and future. Different paradigms, strategies and structures of organizations. Rapid market changes, the slower organizational changes and very slow individual changes. How to change organizations. Learning in organizations.
Learning Objectives in this course are:
1. The student understands the complexity of organizational development and is familiar with its key theories and their contribution to modern management and leadership practices.
2. The student can analyze and discuss the different organizational development perspectives and discuss and justify their utilization in a real-life organizational case.
Assessment and grading of the course
Passing the course requires the student has submitted the Moodle Discussion notes (2) and the Course Assignment (one essay) within the given timeline. The course is assessed based on the Course Assignment. The two smaller assignments are based on reading materials and passing them requires posting a note on Moodle Discussion board. The Course Assignment is an essay, where smaller assignment notes can be reused and further developed. The Course Assignment task is an essay included with a reference list. References are not counted in the word limit. Course assignment layout should follow Novia’s guidelines for academic writing and referencing.
