    The student
    - has learnt the basics of animal health with emphasis on disease prevention measures
    - understands what affects good animal health
    - knows the most common diseases in livestock and their symptoms
    - can take action when farm animals are taken ill
    Prerequisites
    No previous knowledge required
    Content of the study unit
    The most common health problems in international and Finnish animal husbandry
    Some specifically selected animal diseases of major production significance and quarantine diseases
    Focus on parasites, hoof / hoof problems and udder problems
    Preventive health care measures for animals
    Assessment criteria
    Assessment criteria – satisfactory (1-2)
