    Competence objectives of the study unit
    The student will:
    - take part in a multiprofessional team and create a natural caring relationship with the patient
    - demonstrate the ability to support the patient and the family in the rehabilitation process
    - be able to employ safe working methods
    - under supervision and with increasing independence be able to assess the patient’s caring needs, plan for i interventions, gradually independently implement nursing activities and demonstrate clinical nursing skills related to medical and surgical nursing
    - be able to document and report nursing activities and the patient’s condition in Finnish or Swedish
    - be able to implement the underlying principles of medical and surgical nursing care at different wards
    - obtain evidence-based knowledge of common diseases and show an understanding for the pharmacological treatment of the patient
    - under supervision and with increasing independence be able to perform safe oral- and intravenous drug administration, follow up the effects and act in accordance with the situation
    - has achieved competence in internal medicine, neurological and oncological care according to national standards
