The student will:
-become familiar with the organization of home care in Finland, and be able to define home care in different settings
-be able to identify the essential aspects of the home visit
-become aware of patient- and staff safety during home visits
-be able to take care of the patient in a home environment while considering professionalism, confidentiality and courtesy.
-be able to apply evidence-based nursing care, and the nursing process, in home- and community nursing care
-be able to define cancer and differentiate benign from malignant neoplasms
-be able to describe the theories of carcinogenesis
-be able to explain carcinogens and identify risk factors for cancer
-be able to compare the mechanisms and characteristics of normal cells to those of malignant cells
-be able to describe the physical and psychosocial effects of cancer
-become familiar with patient organizations and community support for patients with cancer
-has knowledge about palliative care
- has knowledge of preventive care and treatment at the most common national and global infectious diseases
- is aware of the epidemiology of infectious diseases
- has knowledge of medical terminology and drug treatment in immunological conditions
