• The students have knowledge about basic hair care, the structure and function of the hair
• The students are able to analyze the hair and scalp
• The students have knowledge about the four basic forms of hair sculpture
• The students can use tools and appliances within hair design
• The students command the basics of hair styling and blow drying techniques
• The students are aware of different hair styling and hair care products and their use
• The students are familiar with different kinds of special care products for hair and scalp
• The students are able to plan and recommend hair care treatment for the client
• The students are familiar with the aseptic techniques in hair care
• The students understand the importance of and follow a good industrial hygiene

Lectures, demonstrations, practical exercises, workshops, research, mood board and teamwork

Praktik- och arbetslivssamarbete

For course assignments/salon work the aim is to work on clients and collaborate with working life.

Bedömningsmetoder (förverkligande) och -kriterier (studieperioder/kurser)

Examination consists of submitted assignments, grade (0-5). Examination autumn 2023. All assignments needs to be done to get an approved and graded course.

1. Hair Fix, 2cr. The assignment is a written portfolio assignment. Deadline for submission: October 27th 2023 via Moodle. Grade (0-5) and individual feedback is given via Moodle.
2. Hair Care for Client, 2cr. Students create a hair care event for clients in the salon. Date for the event: November 7th. After the event students write a reflection report on the client work. Deadline for submission: November 17th via Moodle. Group feedback is given through e-mail. Students online will have instead a written assignment on hair care consultation for client with optional hair care product brand. Deadline is the same, November 17th.
3. Written Open Exam, 1cr. The assignment is a written essay exam on computer. Exam in class for campus students and online for online students: Date for exam and submission through Moodle: October 10th 2023. Grade (0-5). Group feedback is given in class or through e-mail.

The course is evaluated based on grades (0-5) for assignments (individual or in pairs). The average of the grades for assignments form the final grade in the course.

Underkänd (0)

The student has not followed the instructions of the assignment and shows especially vague competences within the theme.
The assignments are inadequate or lacking.
The student has not participated or contributed anything during the course.

The student has partly followed the instructions of the assignments and demonstrates superficial competence and basic understanding of the subject.
The content of submitted assignments are satisfactory.
