Objective

The student
- can, on the basis of diverse expertise, assess opportunities for and effects of adapted forest regeneration methods
- can describe methods in continuous cover forestry
- can assess the conditions for a forest stand to be managed with continuous cover forestry
- can assess the effects of and the differences between different management options
- can plan alternative management programs for stands and provide motivated advice to forest owners.

Content

Harvest and management methods used in continuous cover forestry
Nature conservation in uneven-aged forests
Abiotic and biotic risk factors in uneven-aged forests
Assessment of the natural plant regeneration at the site
Planning of cutting in uneven-aged forests
Selection of trees to be harvested in selective cutting
Conversion from even-aged stands to uneven-aged stands
The course is based on several of the global sustainability goals, mainly the goals of Responsible consumption and production as well as Climate action.
