Objective

The student gets an insight into the tasks in mechanical engineering and safety, which belongs to the studies, these are carried out in a vessel environment or partly in workshop environment.

Content

The supervised onboard training is totally 360 days in order to gain the watchkeeping engineer certificate, of these days can the maximum in the different sub areas be:
• Machinery over 750 kW, 360 days (support & operational level)
• Audited school ship, 60 days (support & operational level)
• Military service, 60 days (operational level)
• Simulator training, 30 days (operational level)
• Workshop training, 180 days, can also be training in workshop on shore in the shipping industry (operational level)
For instance, for a student a typical training can be:
• Machinery over 750 kW, 30 & 80 days (support & operational level)
• Audited school ship, 30 & 30 days (support & operational level)
• Military service, 30 days (operational level)
• Simulator training, 10 days (operational level)
• Workshop training, 150 days, can also be training in workshop on shore in the shipping industry (operational level)
• Totally 360 days (support & operational level)
There are totally 18 study units (courses) in the curriculum and every study unit is worth 6 ECTS. Every 6 ECTS corresponds to 20 days of training. The training will only be approved in units of 6 ECTS.
