Objective

The Student:
- knows vaccine-preventable diseases, both nationally and globally
- understands the composition, benefits, and potential side effects of vaccines
- is familiar with the national vaccination program in Finland and the related legislation
- understands vaccination requirements for different target groups across the lifespan
- can provide client guidance based on current evidence-based knowledge
- demonstrates competence in counseling, preparing for vaccinations, administering vaccines using appropriate techniques, and carrying out post-vaccination follow-up and care

Content

Diseases preventable by vaccination and their prevalence
Benefits of vaccines: Advantages at individual, population, and societal levels.
Composition and types of vaccines: Understanding vaccine composition, different types, and protocols for storage, transport, and disposal.
National Vaccination Program and legislation: Overview of the national vaccination program and relevant legislation.
Vaccination for different target groups: Strategies for vaccinating various target groups.
Preparation and guidance for vaccination: Prepare for vaccination situations, assess vaccination needs, plan and decision-making, and understand contraindications and precautions.
Vaccination procedures: Actions during vaccination, necessary equipment, administration methods, and selecting the appropriate injection site. Prepare for immediate reactions and post-vaccination measures.
