The Student:
- understands the physiological and psychosocial aspects of normal aging and can assess the health, functional capacity, and individual resources of older adults while supporting their autonomy and decision-making in health and self-care
- possesses knowledge of common geriatric diseases, as well as chronic and complex conditions, and understands their implications in acute care situations
- is familiar with legislation, national strategies, and current recommendations related to the care and well-being of the older population
- has a comprehensive understanding of the structure and functions of social and healthcare services for older adults
- applies evidence-based nursing and rehabilitation methods in geriatric care, including safe and appropriate medication management
- is knowledgeable about different forms of care for older adults, including home care, home hospitals, long-term care facilities, and family-based care
- adopts a health-promoting, rehabilitative, and ergonomically sound approach in all aspects of geriatric nursing
- can guide older patients in health-related matters and conduct clinical examinations, functional assessments, and therapeutic interventions
- is familiar with welfare technology and technical aids that support the independence and quality of life of older adults
