After passing the course the student is expected to:
- be able to define, identify and describe basic concepts related to the design of GIS applications
- be able to understand basic principles for building GIS applications in different environments
- be able to execute, explain and defend the basic principles for building GIS applications
- be able to compare and critically evaluate different ways of building GIS applications

Realization of own GIS applications
Web server structure for GIS data

The student has basic insights into system development in GIS
The student understands the meaning of Internet-based GIS technology

Assessment criteria, good (3)

Students can apply the knowledge in smaller projects
Students understand the principles of configuring a map server for handling and distributing GIS services.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

Students can customize a map server for handling and distribution of GIS services.
