Objective

After the course should the student be able to:
- describe and use different cost and benefit, investment calculation methods in an industrial contexts and for entrepreneurs
- identify and describe the demand on the calculation data quality
- identify when calculations show on profitability and not so profitable/loss making.
- independently and in team do calculations for pricing
- have the basic skills to collect, co-ordinate and be responsible for calculations in a more complex context.

- Cost and benefit calculations
- what can be found in the bookkeeping and accounting
- calculations and pricing methods
- investment calculations and valuation, investment process
- special cases and access to money for the investment
- computer aid and presentation of the the calculation method and findings.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Has basic knowledge of four basic investment calculation methods and cost estimates. Understands the importance of calculation for pricing. Explains clearly that logic, mathematics and industrial economics interact. Knows the conceptual apparatus in three languages. Realizes the importance of interaction in the company, the information for calculations is available in several places

Assessment criteria, good (3)

Performs calculations when there is information that will serve as input in the calculations. Can explain the consequences of input data and how they are reflected in the results and profitability. Can explain that logic, mathematics and industrial economics interact both in a specific calculation situation and in business long term. Can read and interpret simple cost-benefit analysis and also simple investment calculations in three languages. Has the ability to find contacts, databases, industry overviews in terms of cost-benefit analysis.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

Can manually and by computer perform and defend the basic calculations of cost-benefit analysis and investment calculation. Can act as a coach or a teacher in terms of basic cost and investment calculation. Has the ability to describe, analyze, interpret and compile reasonable reports. Can read and interpret more advanced cost-benefit analysis and also simple investment calculations in three languages. Is aware of and uses existing databases and data banks in terms of cost-benefit analyzes and investment calculations. Has good knowledge of the cost development at national level.
