Clinical practice in class and individual tasks.

1 2,5h Introduction to course and methods in blood banking
2 2,5h ABO-blood group typing, Multi well tray & Tube method; sample collection (venipuncture)
3 2,5h Rh-blood group typing & Coombs test, Tube method
4 2,5h Antibody screening, Tube method
5 2,5h ABO- & Rh-blood group typing and blood group confirmation, Gel testing
6 2,5h Coombs & Compatibility testing, Gel testing
7 2,5h PRACTICAL+THEORY EXAM

Mandatory attendance in class.


After the cours you should be able:
- to perform ABO & Rh grouping on the donor and recipients sample and understand its clinical implications
- to resolve discrepancies in the blood grouping; identifying factors affecting reliability in blood grouping and interpret unexpected results
- to determine when weak D testing is necessary based on clinical context
