Descriptions

This full-time study programme presupposes that the student has previous studies in visual art, as well as professional experience. Other studies in adjacent fields may also qualify. In that case, the applicant needs to specify how the acquired knowledge feeds into their art practice. The student’s previous courses and their professional experience can be validated by this study programme, which lets the student focus on the courses that are required for a BA degree. The focus of this programme is on the student’s own artistic work, in relation to the essential art theoretical framework. The student’s artistic process is supported by coaching by a personal supervisor, as well as in group discussions.
The duration of the programme is 2 years and comprises 240 ECTS (of which 120 ECTS are from previous university level studies in a related field).

The study programme mainly consists of online courses and digital meetings, where the supervision takes the form of group discussions and presentations, studio visits, peer reviews, and constructive group critiques. Guest teachers are invited to hold lectures and conduct studio visits. At least one week of contact studies will be held on location, at Campus Allegro in Jakobstad/Pietarsaari, Finland (or other location) every year.
