Objective
The student will be able to:
- explain how wooden structures are designed and built
- perform dimensioning of concrete structures in accordance with Eurocode 5
- work in design teams for the design of standard, demanding and very demanding wooden structures in accordance with the Government Decree (1063/2024) on determining the difficulty class of design tasks.
In combination with other compulsory courses in structural design, materials and manufacturing technology, and mechanics, this course and a Bachelor of Engineering degree in construction engineering with a specialisation in structural design fulfil the educational requirements for designing conventional and demanding timber structures in accordance with the Government Decree (1063/2024) on determining the difficulty class of design tasks.
In order to be responsible for the design of load-bearing structures in conventional and demanding design work, in addition to educational requirements, there are also requirements for work experience in the design of load-bearing structures made of relevant materials.
