Objective

The student will be able to:
- explain how foundation and geotechnical structures are designed
- perform dimensioning of foundation and geotechnical structures in accordance with Eurocode 7
- work in design teams for the design of standard, demanding and very demanding foundation and geotechnical structures in accordance with the Government Decree (1063/2024) on the determination of the difficulty class for design tasks.

In combination with other compulsory courses in structural design, materials and manufacturing technology, and mechanics, this course and the Bachelor of Engineering degree in Building Technology with a specialisation in structural design fulfil the educational requirements for designing conventional and demanding foundation and geotechnical structures in accordance with the Government Decree (1063/2024) on determining the difficulty class of design tasks.

In order to be responsible for the design of load-bearing structures in conventional and demanding design work, in addition to educational requirements, there are also requirements for work experience in the design of load-bearing structures made of relevant materials.

Content

- Design and dimensioning of demanding structures for houses
- Basic and soil reinforcement as well as foundation methods
- Ramp, frost insulation, radon and drainage

Qualifications

The Educational Modules Introduction to Building Techniques, Residential and Public Buildings, Mathematics and Building Mechanics, or similar knowledge
