Steel Structures 2Laajuus (6 cr)
Code: BYR26PK05
Credits
6 cr
Objective
The student will be able to
- explain how steel structures are designed, implemented and maintained
- explain the properties and uses of structural steel
- perform the dimensioning of steel structures in accordance with Eurocode 3
- work in design teams for the design of standard, demanding and very demanding steel structures in accordance with the Government Decree (1063/2024) on the determination of the difficulty class of design tasks.
In combination with other compulsory courses in structural design, materials and manufacturing technology, and mechanics, this course and a Bachelor of Engineering degree in construction engineering with a specialisation in structural design fulfil the educational requirements for designing conventional and demanding steel structures in accordance with the Government Decree (1063/2024) on determining the difficulty class of design tasks.
In order to be responsible for the design of load-bearing structures in conventional and demanding design work, in addition to educational requirements, there are also requirements for work experience in the design of load-bearing structures made of relevant materials.
