The student
- understands the need for community planning
- is familiar with the Finnish planning system
- is familiar with the legislation on community planning
- know the content of the various plans (landscape, general, detailed plans) and their legal effects
- knows stakeholders' opportunities for participation in the planning process.

Content

Community planning at different levels
Land Use and Building Act to affected parts
The planning process and consultation of stakeholders
The impact of community plans on forestry and agricultural entrepreneurship
Permit for environmental work
Permit processes related to construction
Examples from different provinces and municipalities
The course is based on several of the global sustainability goals, mainly the goal of Sustainable cities and communities
