The student
- understands the need for tactical and strategic planning of the use of natural resources
- can explain how forest planning can and should consider the principles of sustainable forestry
- knows methods for mapping the forest owner's objectives and can assess how these affect the planning situation
- knows the most common methods for cost-effective planning
- knows methods for collecting and analyzing geographical data
- can assess the accuracy of the inventory methods and in a controlled manner adapt the sampling design to the purpose
- can calculate inventory results.
