The aim of the course is to provide the student thorough understanding of the contents of international treaties in maritime sector and relationships between them as well as regulation of the shipping sector and markets by use of standard documents and their interpretation especially in English and Nordic law.
Students are able to
- Analyze changes in international agreements as well as EU and US legislation.
- Plan and supervise the compliance of the treaties and agreements as a part of the company’s operation and strategic planning
- Understand the effects of IMO treaties and national regulation on green shipping, marine environment protection and autonomous shipping.
- Implement international rules, regulations, recommendations and standards required by upcoming legislation on autonomous shipping depending on the level of autonomy of the ship.

- International voluntary agreements system and agreed documents in shipping business
- IMO, EU and US legislation: planning and supervising compliance to these agreements as a part of the company’s strategic planning
- IMO and national work on green shipping, marine environment protection and autonomous shipping.
