Objective
The aim of the study unit is to give the students thorough understanding of elements of proper maintenance; organization and management of the maintenance activity of a shipping company; maintenance contracts; proper monitoring and digitalized data analysis; digitalized tools and services for management of complex technical systems, Case: management of a dry docking project (planning, scheduling, resourcing, budgeting, supervising, testing and approving processes related with dry docking); examples of good practices of technical management in shipping industry. Changes of processes due to autonomous vessels (MASS).
After completing the course students have
- A thorough understanding of the regulatory issues regarding technical systems of ships
- They have a good understanding of the role of proper maintenance of technical systems and the potential safety risks caused by conflicting and competing interests within a shipping company
- They are familiar with modern digitalized services applied in the maintenance of technical systems
- They have the ability to plan and conduct a demanding dry-docking project and knowledge about budgeting and financial management of a dry-docking project.
- They have the ability to develop the technical management process of the company.
- They understand the changes of processes due to autonomous vessels (MASS).
