Studieperiodens (kursens) lärandemål

The aim of the course is to give a thorough understanding of sales process of a used vessel; markets for construction of new vessels, repairs and conversions; management of agreements concerning new construction, repair and conversion; project risk management, financing and insuring; standard agreements and the liabilities distribution of liability; negotiations of agreements; project follow-up and contract changes; role and liability of rating institutions.

After completing the course the students:
- Are familiar with agreements about new vessel construction, repairs and conversions and can act as ship-owner’s representative.
- Are aware of current agreements with shipyards and can define essential risks from the company’s point of view of express their views about projects’ operational issues and changes in a
confident manner.
- Are able to manage the contractual process in connection to trading of a used ship and identify potential risks concerning financing and transfer of ownership.
- Have a good command of the contents of standard agreements and also understand potential interpretational issues.
- Are familiar with increasing automation and application of future MASS code as well as changing needs for sustainable development and green shipping will be considered in contract formation
planning.

Förkunskapskrav

Common Advanced Professional Studies 10 ECTS and Degree Specific Advanced Professional Studies 15 ECTS have to be completed
