Studieperiodens (kursens) lärandemål

The aim of the course is to give a thorough understanding of yachting management and familiarize the students with yachting business and management as the duties of the captain and chief engineer. The business management of yachting as well as the legal prerequisities in yachting in different jurisdictions and working knowledge of the crew employment and companies providing crewing services for the yachting industry. Yachting management and supervision during the building and drydocking.

After completing the course the students:
- Have a thorough understanding of regulations, safety and compliance - including insurance, health and safety standards, relevant codes (including MARPOL, SOLAS, Large Yacht Code) and flag
state requirements, moorings; yacht building contracts and employment contracts
- Have a thorough understanding of managing human resources, financial management, costs and budgeting, auditing; managing and ordering supplies, health and safety, hygiene; the roles in
operation and duties of yacht brokers.

Förkunskapskrav

Common Advanced Professional Studies 10 ECTS and Degree Specific Advanced Professional Studies 15 ECTS have to be completed

Reports and/or assignments handed in according to timelines and if required orally presented. The materials at an approvable level of quality. Student's activity at an acceptable level.

Good work input overall: Reports and/or assignments handed in according to timelines and if required presented. All materials of high quality. Good activity in the class, eg at the discussions and presentations.

Exceptional quality overall: the written Reports and/or assignments, presentations, student activity.

Bedömningskriterier, godkänt/underkänt

A Report / Reports / assignments not handed in or an unacceptable level of quality (including missed DLs) of the reports and/or presentations.
