Lärandemål

The aim of the study unit is to give thorough understanding of environmental liability conventions, regulatory framework and instruments; power, energy and environment trends in shipping; ship energy efficiency legislation; environmental impacts of shipping; pollution prevention control legislation technologies and management; recycling legislation and contract, reuse and waste management; sustainability and social responsibility based on legal rules and guidelines.

After completing the course students:
- Have gained thorough knowledge of various environmental liability conventions, policies, law, regulations and instruments developed for marine pollution and marine energy efficiency and
environment
- Have aquired a solid understanding of all the key elements leading to the environmental liability and energy efficiency legislation on ships
- They understand the current environmental problems in marine environments explored through evaluation and comparison of theory and practical applications,
- Have insight into minimization measures of environmental impacts of shipping and offshore activities, and are able to examine the interactions in environmentally, ecologically and economically
sustainable maritime activities
- They have insight of the legal environmental pollution liability conventions and their practical application based on case law.
