Objective
The course enables the students to become confident in using English at work and in situations connected with work by providing them tools for basic job related documents and, to improve their understanding of grammar to allow them to work more successfully in English.
The course will also give tools for students to be able to negotiate and manage meetings and other working life related situations in English, while at the same time developing fluency in English.

This is an online course that will start on November 7 and finish on December 19, 2022

Being able to identify the different styles of English, their characteristics and usage.
Creating templates of working-life and business related documents in English.
Identifying the processes of applying for a job, attending a job interview and the skills needed in English.

Being able to deliver an oral presentation on a subject within business or working life in general.
Assessment criteria, good (3)
Being able to create documents using the different styles of English, according to their characteristics and terms of usage.

Assessment methods and criteria
Grading on a scale 1-5 or fail. An approved course requires approved oral presentations, approved written assignments and an approved written examination.

The student has failed to meet the deadline of the written assignments and has not been present for the oral assignments.
Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2)
The student can express himself in a simple but coherent way and write reports in a simple but often unstructured way. There are spelling mistakes and weaknesses in basic structures of a written text. The student manages to present orally but the presentation may be difficult for foreigners to understand. Limited ability express oneself fluently in speech, the student pauses to find suitable expressions or uses words in his native language. Have problems to find synonyms and a suitable style.
Assessment criteria, good (3-4)
Grade 3
The student can write coherent, analytical and structured texts including his own opinions and arguments and can draw conclusions of information from different sources. Breach of style, spelling mistakes and other small mistakes can be found but the student has a good command of the basic structures and can use difficult structures more correctly. Oral presentations are of a routine nature but structured.
Grade 4
The student writes almost flawless English and expresses himself fluently and professionally in speech and writing. The student writes well structured, analytical texts with well-grounded conclusions about more demanding topics and manages to pinpoint the most important in a text and provide examples. The student can express himself orally within a wide variety of topics spontaneously and rarely needs to look for the right expression. A versatile vocabulary.
Assessment criteria, excellent (5)
The language is idiomatic and flawless. The student can write scientific texts in a well-structured, interesting and correct way. Manages to vary the style and use of language depending on the target group. Can in speech use professional, balanced and idiomatic language, make corrections without the audience being disturbed by it and has a good command of insinuations and multi-faceted expressions. Oral speeches are interesting, creative and well structured.
