After completing the course, the student is able to:
- Explain the politics of welfare, welfare services and welfare provision of the Nordic Model of Welfare
- Analyze and evaluate the outcome of welfare policy in the Nordic welfare states, as well as in a comparative EU and a global setting
- Recognize and analyze the challenges of the Nordic welfare model today

31.8. 16.30-18.00. Introduction to the course, its literature and assignments. Introduction to essential concepts. Introduction to the Nordic welfare model and its present day challenges.
25.10. 15.00-17.00 Comparitative analysis of Nordic welfare states and the EU. Welfare indicators, measurements and outcome.
22.11. 15.00-18.00 Students' presentations and a concluding interdisciplinary approach.

The student has followed the instructions for the assignment and shows that she/he has mastered the substance. She/he have read the other participants' assignments and can ask relevant questions and can lead a discussion at the possible seminar. The assignment and the possible role as an opponent show something out of the ordinary (technical execution, oral presentation, mature reflections, independent working methods)
