Description

The Master's Degree Programme in Digital Business and Management is a university of applied sciences post-graduate degree for persons with a Bachelor’s degree and a two years’ work experience.

The program answers the constantly growing competence requirements and needs in management, businesses, and working life. The profile of the program is on the combination of management skills, business, and communication. The goal is for the student to be able to meet demands of the new digital world. The different professional and cultural backgrounds of the students will enable a dynamic and interactive learning environment.
The degree program delivers generic competencies and program-specific competencies. The competencies include knowledge, skills and attitudes.

Master’s Thesis 30 ECTS

The courses are implemented as a blended learning. Teachers and students have different national or international backgrounds and work experiences, which enables a multi-professional and international study environment.

Master’s Thesis is a major element of degree studies. It is a working life-based development project and a combination of theory, praxis, and creation of new knowledge. The thesis is an applied study research and it emphasizes the development of the work, the organization or the working community. It is also possible to join research and development programs and have the thesis done in a project. Conducting the Master’s thesis requires expertise, independent work and skills of utilizing research information in an analytical and critical manner.

Competence objectives:
The generic competencies within the program are knowledge, skills, and attitudes but also learning, ethical, and working community competences including aspects of internationalization. One of the central competencies is innovation competence including individual, interpersonal and networking competencies with the following competence dimensions: critical thinking, initiative, creativity, teamwork, and networking.

The degree program-specific competencies mean that the student perceives how management, business, and communication enable a holistic view when developing business and societal issues. The student will be exercised in problem solving, innovativeness, and creativeness through business management and communication by taking into consideration on meeting the demands of the new digital world. The student practices and shares expertise in teams and networks from different experiences and cultural backgrounds creates and manages professional networks nationally and internationally.

Objective

The student is able to
- perceive the possibilities that business, management and communication enable a holistic view in the context of developing business and society
- develop one's approach to problem solving, innovativeness and creativeness through business, management and communication by taking into consideration on meeting demands of the new digital world.
