Hematology 2
Immunohematology is the study of RBC antigens and antibodies associated with blood transfusions. This course aims to train in class the tasks performed by blood bank personnel in clinical laboratories.
Students:
- Understands the importance of biomedical laboratory scientists in the workforce and how they ensure donated blood is safe for use in blood transfusions and other procedures.
- Train skills in hematological methods for determination of ABO blood group (B-ABORhAB-O), blood group antibodies in plasma, and the direct Coombs Test.
- Can utilize central information sources and scientific publications related to methods in immunohematology.
- Are capable of reviewing, analyzing, and documenting laboratory results.
- Have the ability to independently handle new situations within the field of operation.
- Possess fundamental insights into associated quality assurance and development.
- Consider safety and occupational health.
- Are aware of how to make sustainable choices in laboratory work.
