Objective
The student
- can apply knowledge of farm mechanisation and standard feeding, milking, ventilation and fertilisation systems in Finnish animal farms, primarily from dairy, milk and livestock herds
- knows how to build modern animal accommodation and has obtained applicable knowledge and practical skills for rational farm planning
Content
Indoor mechanization, rational farm planning, different operating solutions and different building engineering solutions
Designing a modern animal shed based on various demands on animal health and well-being, considering both the environment and the economy
Feeding systems in mainly different types of cattle herds in Finnish stables, pros and cons
Milking systems (both more traditional and new modern facilities, different forms of milk pits and robotic milking, cow traffic), pros and cons
Various ventilation systems, advantages and disadvantages
Various fertilization systems, advantages and disadvantages
