According to STCW- Code: Table A-VI/4-2
- Applies immediate first aid in the event of an accident or acute illness on board
- Handles concepts and knowledge in a professional way
- Can use the necessary information sources such as MFAG, Pharmaca Fennica and the Medical Guide
- Can use selected medical equipment in the ship's pharmacy to some extent, partly with guidance
- Has an aseptic approach and is familiar with the principles of preventing the spread of infection on board
- Master the basic patient examination and can prepare for TMAS consultation
- Can handle basic drug treatment as instructed on board
- The continued first care of the patient's injuries or illnesses is in accordance with approved first aid principles and good medical practice recommendations. Applies the knowledge base in various situations taking into account their own safety and minimizes the risks of further injury to self or victim.
- Motivates the work in accordance with the ecological principles of the profession
- Strives to organize their own and the group's activities in a professional manner. Collaborates in multicultural environments
