Objective
The student will:
- obtain knowledge about trends in global health
- be able to identify socioeconomic, biological and behavioural factors that influence health
- be able to explain the social determinants of health
- be able to describe some of the major global challenges impacting health
- be able to distinguish health inequality from health inequity
- be able to explain the influence of inequality on health outcomes
- obtain knowledge about tropical diseases and their aetiology
- become aware of the modes of transmission, prevention, treatment and care related to extremely contagious diseases
- recognize the organizations working for global issues in health care
- understand the challenges of working in difficult areas

Completion alternatives
Alternative 1. Write a short article (min 2000 words abstract with max 150 words excluded, references not included) about one of the topics above. Content: Introduction, Headings 1 - 3 and Conclusion
Alternative 2. Create a blog and update it on a regular base (minimum 4 times and minimum 500 words each time) during May- October 2022 where you write about one of the topics above
Alternative 3. Write a short debate article for a daily newspaper (following the guidelines for debate article) about one of the topics above
Use instructions for written assignments when writing an article (you can also use Vancouver or Harvard system). The aim is to publish your article in Novialia or a non-scientific nursing journal.
When publishing you need to have a second author, your supervisor. It will be Anita Wikberg. The second author (AW) gives supervision, reads and corrects manuscript and influences this way on the manuscript).
When writing a blog, the forum and manuscripts must be approved by the supervisor (AW) before publication. Use the given instructions for the forum where you publish your blog. The blog is published at Novia blogs. The supervisor's name will be mentioned in the blog.
When writing a short debate article, the manuscript must be approved by the supervisor and include the supervisors name before publishing.
The final manuscript must be sent to your supervisor through Urkund/ Ouriginal for all three alternatives

The assignment is individual.
Supervision and feedback is given from teacher on demand 2 times + final evaluation on Peppi. Please start early!
Evaluation can be booked before 10th of June or after 8th of August.
Deadline of all texts is 10th of October 2022.
The seminar will be on 25th of October 2022. An extra seminar has been added for the ones that want to finish their education earlier.
To be able to publish you need to have a grade 3 or above.
Use references correctly.
Do not write about your thesis topic or the same topics as you have written in CC02!
You will take part in the peer review process of one other student.
The peer reviewer should look at language, structure and content of the text.
Use Comments or Track changes in Word.
Do spelling and grammar checkup in Word before you send to peer reviewer and your supervisor.
Novia instructions for writing need to be followed, or the journal instructions if the article is going to be published in a specific journal
