The student will:
- be able to identify essential nutrients and their dietary sources
- be able to describe normal digestion, absorption and the metabolism of vitamins, carbohydrates, proteins and lipids
- be able to identify factors influencing nutrition
- be able to identify nutritional variations throughout the life span
- become familiar with eating disorders and therapies related to these
- become familiar with diets related to illness and disease
- be able to guide patients concerning nutritional issues
- be able to apply evidence-based nursing care and the nursing process to nursing care related to nutritional problems
