    Competence objectives of the study unit
    The student:
    - has knowledge of the biology of the different microbial groups in order to be able to understand and describe the risks of infection
    - knows the different routes of infection in order to be able to assess and prevent infection risks in the event of infection
    - can summarize and exemplify the human microbiota and can explain its role in health and disease
    - can name the most common pathogenic microbes
    - understand the basics of bacterial resistance development in order to protect patients
    - understand the significance and consequences of the resistant bacteria for the patient
    - understands the importance of reducing the presence of resistant bacteria for sustainable development
    - understands one's own role in antibiotic stewardship
    - can describe how the lymphocytes function in the immune system during health and illness
    - can explain what happens during an immunization (infection, vaccination, rhesus immunization, passive immunization)
    - have knowledge of human biological changes in pathological conditions
    - can describe endogenous and exogenous etiologies of disease
    - understand the significance of the acute inflammatory reaction
