Completion alternatives

Examination 1, Preparation for and participation in study sessions 1 ECTS
- Students complete the course by familiarising themselves with the preparation material before each study session and by actively participating in the study session.
- Participation in the study sessions is mandatory. If the student cannot participate, he/she needs to compensate for the absence by submitting a compensation assignment on Moodle.
- Examination 1 is assessed as Passed/Failed

Academic Paper, 2 ECTS
- The students can choose to write the Academic Paper individually or with a fellow student
- The students can choose to write the Academic Paper in English or in Swedish
- The Academic Paper should be based on relevant, scientific literature and an interview with a professional working with young people in an intercultural setting.
- If the student has taken part in some of the online workshops, where professionals have presented their work, it is possible for her or him to use the content from one of the workshops instead of doing an interview
- Choose a topic that is relevant for Intercultural work among Yong People. Form one or two questions that you try to answer in the Academic Paper.
- Refer to at least 4 relevant books/scientific articles from academic journals/scientific reports and at least 2 occupational articles/relevant webpages. The number of written sources should be the double if two persons choose to write a paper together.
- It is essential that you use your own words when writing the text. You are not allowed to copy text. Avoid using citations. It is important that the reader can see that you have understood the information that you have read and that you have created a meaningful entity based on several sources. You should not be too dependent on a specific source rather use several different souses in the same chapter.
- You are not allowed to use content from AI. You may use the help of AI in idea generation and in language review
- The Academic Paper should follow Novias writing instructions
- Make source references in fluent text and a list of all sources in Works Cited in the end of the paper

- The Academic Paper should be submitted on Moodle. Deadline 6.3.2024.
- The students will receive feedback on Moodle or per e-mail
- The Academic Paper will be graded on the scale 0-5

Reflection Paper, 2 ECTS
- The student listens to five videos about young persons´ growing up in two cultures and about anti-racist youth work (the videos are listed in the instructions on Moodle)
- The student then writes a Reflection Paper based on the content in the videos and on theory presented at the online workshops. The student can of course also refer to theory that she or he has read for the Academic Paper
- The student should focus on the connection between theory and the experiences of individuals growing up in two cultures
- The idea is that the student shows how theory is relevant for the things that the people in the videos experience or talk about. The student can also show how theory is not really capturing the experience of the individual. The student can as well reflect on what kind of services or professional approaches could be suitable fort the persons in the videos
- Writing about your reflections is the main thing in this paper. The student present thoughts and ideas that arise from the videos and make connections to relevant theory.
- This text should be more personal than the text in the Academic Paper
- You can choose to write the reflection paper in English or in Swedish
- Length: 5-6 pages (line spacing 1,5)
- The refection paper should be submitted on Moodle. Deadline 15.3.2024
