Objective
The Student:
-can account for the historical background of social policy in Finland and internationally
- know key social policy concepts such as equality, social justice, and citizenship
- understands the importance of social policy as a social activity and scientific discipline
- can identify different welfare models to organize and finance social policy
- is aware of the specificities and contemporary challenges of Finnish social policy.
Content
-social policy as a science and as a policy area
-the basic concepts, functioning and sub-areas of social policy
-the emergence and historical development of social policy
-differences between Finnish social policy and other social policy models
- different approaches to the achievement of social policy and different critical approaches to social policy
