Objective

The student
- can identify the native trees and the most common shrubs
- knows the habitat requirements of native tree species
- can identify the most important foreign tree species and know their production conditions in Finland
- knows the plant physiology of the trees

Content

Identification of native tree species and shrubs regardless of season
Identification of foreign tree species
The names of native tree species in Swedish, Finnish and their scientific names, the names of foreign species in Swedish and their scientific names
Habitat requirements of trees
Basic plant physiology and anatomy
The importance of nutrients for plant functions
The course is based on several of the global sustainability goals, mainly the goal of Life on land
