The student:
 •	has theoretical knowledge of marine engineering practice
 •	has practical knowledge of management of safe and effective maintenance and repair procedures
 •	has practical knowledge of planning maintenance, including statutory and class verifications
 •	has practical knowledge of planning repairs
 •	has practical knowledge of detection of machinery malfunction, location of faults and action to prevent damage
 •	has practical knowledge of inspection and adjustment of equipment
 •	has practical knowledge of non-destructive examination
