Objective
The student will:
- know the diseases prevented by vaccination both nationally and internationally
- know the composition, advantages and side effects of vaccines
- know the national vaccination programme and legislation in Finland
- know about vaccination in different groups
- have skills in counselling and preparation before vaccination, skills in vaccination techniques and measures after vaccination

The national training programme in vaccination knowledge has been developed in cooperation with Metropolia University of Applied Sciences, Diakonia University of Applied Sciences, Turku University of Applied Sciences and the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare. The Swedish-language programme has been developed in cooperation with Novia University of Applied Sciences and Arcada University of Applied Sciences.
The course is realised virtually as independent studies via the online platform Moodle during the time period 11.4-7.6 2024

Assessment methods and criteria
The course has been designed to cover all the basic areas of vaccination that the vaccinator should know and master.
According to THL, passing the study section is the main proof of the important theoretical vaccination knowledge required by the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health's Vaccination Decree for nurses and midwives working as vaccinators.
