Objective

Student
- mastered midwifery knowledge during puerperium
- can assess, plan, implement and evaluate the mother's and the child's care during puerperium and document it according to national documentation systems
- can work family-centered in the support of the new family
- can create a good care relationship with the woman and her family and demonstrate a professional approach
- can apply evidence-based knowledge within postnatal care
- can cooperate with various professional groups within the healthcare team
- masters safe drug treatment
- considers patient safety and applies aseptic principles in patient care

Content

Clinical midwifery during the postnatal period

Location and time

The course is conducted during the autumn term 2025 (part 1) and 2026 (part 2).
Information and seminar are held at Alere.
Supervised clinical practice at maternity ward (postnatal care) according to individual internship plan.

Teaching methods

Supervised clinical practice in postnatal care.
Supervision and assessment discussion with the teacher.
Individual reflections and case.
Information and seminar.

Exam schedules

All documents must be submitted to the teacher no later than one week after completing the internship.

Completion alternatives

Performed and approved clinical practice.
Reflection diary.
Case with current theme from clinical practice, with references to at least two scientific sources.
Participation in internship seminar.

Student workload

27h / cr
1.5 cr / working week = 40 hours. Of these, 38 hours are performed at the internship and 2 hours are considered for individual assignments. The seminar comprising 3 hours is included in the total working hours.
