Objective

• The students have the ability to present the result systematically and do relevant interpretations
• The students have the ability to critically view the own thesis
• The students are able to present the most central aspects of the thesis when presented
• The students are able to function as opponents and carry out the maturity test

Materials

Literature about thesis topic and data, resources within the own research area.
Students follow the thesis writing instructions for Novia UAS.
According to the supervisor´s instructions.

Teaching methods

Self studies with Thesis.
Booked individual guidance meeting with supervisors (Jaana and Johanna).
Guidance in group sessions with Jaana.

Exam schedules

Students work individually with their Thesis according to own scheduled plan. Students are expected to participate in group sessions and book individual guidance sessions for thesis process advancement.

1. Finished and presented Thesis. Students present thesis at the mandatory presentation seminar 24th November 2025. Deadline for submission for thesis final review is 7th November 2025. Individual feedback is given by supervisors at final thesis review.
2. Opposition and Opponent Story. Students have read and critically reviewed appointed thesis and oppose it at the mandatory presentation seminar. Students write an opponent story as essay for the appointed thesis, deadline: 24th November 2025. Feedback for opposition and opponent story is given in thesis assessment document.
3. Maturity Test. Students write the mandatory maturity test 25th November 2025 on own laptop.

Completion alternatives

Finished and presented thesis. The mandatory parts are conducted at campus Alere.
Feedback is given individually during the individual guidance sessions.

Finished and approved course part statement and presentation, grade (Pass / Fail).

Student workload

The students work for 5 ECTS, 135 hours.

Group guidance in class: 6 hours.
Presentation seminar: 7 hours.
Maturity test: 2 hours.

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

Pass:
The student has followed instructions and shows sufficient knowledge about the topic.
The student has shown interest.

Fail:
The student has not followed instructions and shows especially insufficient knowledge about the topic.
The student has not shown much interest.
