Objective

The aim of the course is to give the student the tools for choosing a suitable method and plan for the master's thesis.

The student:
- has a deeper understanding about what research is, how it can be done, what it is used for, etc.
- knows the importance of formulating research problems
- knows how to write a research plan and is prepared to start that work.
- is familiar with different research methods, emphasizing methods suitable for the industry

The Quizz in Moodle. Scoring: Failed - Passed.
The quizz consists of multiple choice questions. The quizz is open about 4 weeks and you can make it whenever you like in that time period. In. Moodle there are questions (small tests) to practice on, but they will close when the actual exam period starts. Timeline to be communicated.

The Research Plan. Scoring: Failed - Passed
Based on the Pre-task that you handed in when applying to the program, and we discussed in the interviews. The pre-task you develop further during this course and then you hand it in the Return Box in Moodle
We will then select and put the Plans according to Two Lanes:
FAST LANE.
STANDARD LANE.
Timeline and detailed instructions to be communicated september 7th, 2023.

Theory and methodology are poorly understood and implemented in Autonomous Maritime Operation related tasks/ assignments.
Research, communication and documentation are hardly acceptable.

Appear to grasp theory and have made a start in showing its applicability in Autonomous Maritime Operation related tasks/ assignements. Research, communication and documentation are acceptable.

Good 3
