Objective

This optional course is tailored for those who want to improve their Swedish language skills while learning important nursing practices. Through a combination of language training and practical exercises in various nursing methods, participants will develop both their language and nursing skills.

Target group: This course is aimed at students who have a basic knowledge of Swedish and who wish to practise both language and nursing skills before their first clinical training.

At the end of the course, participants are expected to have improved their linguistic confidence and be able to perform various nursing methods in Swedish with increased precision and efficiency.

This course offers a unique opportunity not only to improve language skills but also to integrate them into a professional nursing context.

Content

1. Language Training: The focus is on improving participants' communication skills in Swedish in various healthcare-related situations, such as receiving patients, giving instructions, and reporting to colleagues.

2. Nursing Methods: Through practical exercises and simulations, participants will learn various nursing methods, including wound care, catheterisation, and basic care. This also includes understanding and using medical terminology in Swedish.

3. Culture and Ethics in Healthcare: The course also addresses cultural and ethical aspects related to healthcare in Finland, including patient encounters, respect for different cultural backgrounds, and understanding patients' rights.
