Objective

The student
- knows the development of forest machinery
- can select appropriate harvesting equipment based on the nature of the stand and the harvest
- can count on the profitability of a harvester and forwarder
- knows how data is sent to and from forest machines
- understands the connection between matrices, stem profile and marking for cross cutting
- can check and adjust measuring devices
- knows the requirements of the forest certifications for the equipment
- knows which oil and fire-fighting equipment must be available during a felling.

Technology in forest machines and wood harvesting equipment
The development of forest machines
Pricing of services with forest machines
Profitability calculations for forwarders and harvesters
Data transfer to and from forest machines
Matrices, stem profiles and bucking
Soil pressure and trace formation
Oil and fire fighting equipment
Selection of suitable harvesting equipment in different conditions
