Objective

After passing the course, students are expected to:

- know about processes and working methods used in product development.
- be able to apply the methods needed to develop environmentally friendly, safe and competitive products.
- be able to write requirements specifications that take into account product users, authorities and competitors
- be able to design ergonomic and attractive products

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Knows about the design process for new products
Knows the main principles of patent law
Knows about the machine safety directives.
Knows the principles of CE marking
Knows the basics of what design means
Knows the importance of ergonomics for design.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

Can perform design tasks according to standardized design process. Knows different evaluation methods.
Can perform patent searches
Can apply the machine safety directives. Know the fail-safe and safe-fail principles.
Can translate thoughts and ideas into images through basic knowledge and skills.
Can consider ergonomic aspects when developing a product.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

Can use intuitive and discursive solution methods in construction work. Can evaluate different solutions.
Can use patent databases in product development and new designs
Can optimize the safety of machines and plants
Can carry out CE marking of products
Can, through their knowledge, see the significance of design and can express the character of the design.
Can independently analyze a product based on ergonomic aspects.
