Objective

• The students have knowledge of how a beauty salon works within the industry
• The students are prepared to handle the salon's various tasks
• The students can perform treatments and services within the industry
• The students can analyze work processes and customer service situations
• The students can analyze their own psychological and physical work environment and make suggestions for development
• The students can analyze opportunities and obstacles for workplace development
• The students apply marketing and sales in their own work
• The students develop their own professional skills and professional identity
• The students can apply, analyze and develop an approach and working methods that promote economic, ecological and social sustainability and consumption within salon work

Location and time

Internship weeks 10-13, 2 March - 26 March 2026 at salon Beauty Beneath.

Materials

Internship information on Moodle under courses salon work and Beauty Beneath.
According to the teacher´s and representative´s instructions.
Students follow the thesis writing instructions for Novia UAS.

Teaching methods

Client work, salon work and salon positions, consultations, events, teamwork, research, marketing, lectures and training.
Guidance (if needed) by responsible teacher for each week.

Employer connections

Salon work and events with clients and collaborations with working life.

Exam schedules

The internship starts on 2 March 2026 and ends on 26 March 2026.
Students have the first week two planning days and salon work. The following three weeks, there is client work in the salon morning 9-13 and afternoon 14-18 in rotating shifts. It might be some shifts have seminar or final presentation.
Mondays are student's meeting day and weekly planning. Weekly meeting with teacher every Monday.

Rooms: H070 salon and A157.

Completion alternatives

Approved salon work as internship, approved internship report and internship documents.
Feedback is given by the responsible teacher.

Student workload

The students work 38 hours / 1,5 cr.
Internship hours, total: 125 hours for 5 cr.

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

Internship is approved with Pass / Fail.
Criteria for internship assessment is presented at the internship start in March (January).
