Objective
The student knows the operational aspects, reliability and limi-tations of radar equipment and the basics of determining the position and monitoring the traffic situation with the help of radar.

• The operational aspects of radar equipment
• Technical definitions
• Radar construction and performance qualities
• Meteorological, technical and physical factors which have an effect on the radar performance
• Different types of radar picture mode and their differences
• Basic radar functions for optimal position and traffic situation determination
• Radar overhaul and maintenance onboard the vessel
• Practical exercises in the use of radar
