Objective

The student
-knows the basics of ecology at the individual, population, societal and ecosystem level
-understands the importance of biodiversity, the function and stability of ecosystems
-understands the meaning and significance of ecosystem services
-has an understanding of the consequences of human impact on ecosystems

The function of ecosystems
Biodiversity
Population dynamics
Ecosystem services
Human impact on ecosystems in the past, present and future
The impact of climate change on ecosystems
The course is based on several of the global sustainability goals, mainly the goal of Life on land
